The birth process — even a smooth, uncomplicated delivery — places real mechanical demands on a newborn’s head, neck, and spine. The pulling, twisting, and compressive forces involved in birth can affect spinal alignment and, in turn, how freely the nervous system communicates with the rest of the body.
A gentle chiropractic assessment in the early weeks of life gives parents a clear picture of how their baby’s spine and nervous system are functioning. Many parents find this early check-up genuinely reassuring — and those whose babies have any asymmetry, latching difficulty, or postural preferences often appreciate the opportunity to address those patterns early, before they become more established.
Dr. Beth and Dr. Cote have been caring for infants and children in the Collingwood area since 1996. She brings patience, warmth, and a genuinely gentle approach to every pediatric visit — and takes time to ensure that both baby and parent feel comfortable every step of the way.
What to Expect
Pediatric chiropractic at our clinic looks very different from adult care. Here’s what a first visit typically involves:
Your doctor takes time to understand your baby’s birth history, feeding, sleep patterns, and any observations you’ve made about posture or movement.
A calm, hands-on evaluation of your baby’s spinal alignment, range of motion, and nervous system tone. Many babies sleep through it.
Your doctor explains exactly what they found, what it means, and whether they recommend any care — in plain language, without pressure.
If care is recommended, it involves light fingertip pressure — gentle, targeted, and appropriate for the smallest patients.
Across Childhood
The gentlest, lightest-touch assessments. Both Dr. Beth and Dr. Cote use fingertip pressure only — no instruments at this stage — to evaluate spinal alignment and nervous system tone. Parents are always present and involved.
Active little bodies fall constantly. Chiropractic assessment during these years can identify any spinal or neurological patterns worth addressing as children grow. Both doctors bring a warm, unhurried approach that puts even the most hesitant toddlers at ease.
Backpacks, sports, screen time, and the physical demands of growing fast. Chiropractic care during school years supports healthy spinal development and nervous system function through some of the busiest growth phases.
Our instrument-assisted techniques are ideal for teens — precise and effective without the sounds or sensations of manual adjusting that can make adolescents uncomfortable. Many teen athletes find chiropractic care a natural part of staying well.
A Note for New Parents
We know that bringing a baby to a chiropractor for the first time can feel like a big step. We are happy to answer any questions before you book — about the techniques she uses, what to expect during a visit, or whether chiropractic might be appropriate for your specific situation.
There is never any pressure. If you come in and your doctor doesn’t feel that care is indicated, they’ll tell you that clearly and honestly. That’s the kind of practice she’s built — one where families trust that the recommendations they receive are genuinely in their best interest.
